Stepping in to your personal power begins with understanding the unconscious ways you give your power away. Any time you are hurt, offended, frustrated or angry, and a reaction occurs you unconsciously give your power to the person or circumstance at hand. The reason this habitual reaction takes place is the emotional mind, which is stronger and faster than the rational mind feels it doesn’t think. Since the emotional mind doesn’t have the capacity to conceive of our current reality it will automatically connect our present situation to other times we have felt attacked, criticized, or even abandoned without us even realizing it.
In fact anytime we experience emotional pain that pain will instinctively be associated with danger, releasing chemicals into our system that will stimulate us to feel panic, fear or doubt. These feelings also engage a protective reaction that will trigger defense mechanisms such as anger, going silent or withdrawing.
To powerfully step into the life we want requires consciously interrupting any thoughts, feelings, attitudes or beliefs where we give our personal power away. As we actively involve our emotional and physiological energy in an intentional direction, we create new patterns that give us the drive and determination needed to succeed. Each time we consciously connect to empowering feelings we move one step closer to living a powerful life full of inner peace and personal satisfaction.
